Local Efforts to Decriminalize Cannabis |
|
Evanston has joined the list of places in Illinois that allow for an officer to issue a ticket instead of arrest for individuals with small amounts of cannabis. While we support decriminalization efforts like the one in Evanston, House Bill 100, and the Chicago ordinance introduced by Ald. Danny Solis, we still aim to legalize cannabis and remove all criminal and civil penalties for the responsible use of cannabis by adults. However, the Evanston ordinance and other efforts like it are the result of everyday Americans voicing their opinions to local officials about the need to change our cannabis laws. Please take a moment today to contact your local leaders about ending cannabis prohibition. |
