Thank your for your comments about the Perspective and the medical marijuana bill SB1381. The bill has passed the Senate and is now in the House. Deadline for action is November 30.

I appreciate and truly empathize with your position.  There is evidence that marijuana can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms caused by certain illnesses. Opposition to this bill comes from the lack of control over producing the marijuana for medical use.  Law enforcement is very concerned that plant production will proliferate and the bill does not provide tools for control of excess production or marketing.  They also continue to warn that this drug is often a gateway to harder drugs and provides a false sense of safety for minors.

I will continue to encourage modifications to the bill that address these concerns.

Sincerely,

Bob
