Feds Directed to Stop Targeting Medical Cannabis Patients & Providers PDF Print E-mail

The Dept. of Justice issued formal guidelines ordering federal authorities to cease investigating, arresting and prosecuting patients and caregivers in states that have passed medical cannabis programs.

The October 19, 2009 memo reaffirms Attorney General Eric Holders statement in February about this being "American policy."  That statement was made in reference to Obama's campaign promise to stop using federal resources going after those who are authorized to use cannabis in states that protect patients from arrest.  The feds will continue to investigate, arrest and prosecute those who are breaking the medical cannabis program laws of their states, though.
