Texas: Medical Cannabis Bill Before State Legislature PDF Print E-mail

Once again, a medical cannabis bill is before the Texas State Legislature. Rep. Elliott Naishtat, D-Austin, filed the bill (1534) February 15, 2007.

It would apply to patients who have been advised by their doctor to use cannabis for a medical condition. The bill allows medical cannabis patients to tell a court why they're using cannabis.

Currently a judge could rule that information inadmissible. Included in the bill is a clause protecting doctors who recommend cannabis use from disciplinary action. Naishtat filed a similar bill during the last legislative session.
