The effect of cannabis on mood is a hotly debated question. Many medical cannabis users report that it helps them with not just pain but anxiety and depression. A new study indicates that cannabis users in general are less likely to experience depression than those who don't.

Mitchell Earleywine, a psychology professor at the State University of New York at Albany, and Thomas F. Denson, of the University of Southern California, recently completed a study claiming that people who smoke cannabis are less depressed than those who never smoke.
