Depending upon how you decide to lobby your elected officials you will need to be prepared to diiffering degrees. Scheduling a meeting in your officials office while the best way to lobby can be the most intimidating for someone timid about speaking out against cannabis laws. On the other hand writing a letter or sending an email are far less intimidating. Calling an official's office is not as intimidating as a face to face meeting but still requires at least a basic knowledge of what one wants to say and therefore some preparation. Each way can be influencial and some obviously are more influential than others but all should be taken seriously. Knowing the facts about cannabis prohibition is vital for anyone advocating cannabis policy reform since oppenents often rely on ideology and emotions to cloud the debate. Always be polite and thankful when talking to your poltician or their staff, anger or immaturity will not help our cause. If you get a written reply, be sure to keep the communication flowing by writing a return letter. If they support what your lobbying ask them to champion this issue and if they do not support your issue then be sure to let them know why their view should change.
