Cannabis Citations for Misdemeanor Charges

HOUSE BILL 4715 CANNABIS CITATIONS

This bill would allow for officers to issue a citation for misdemeanor cannabis possession charges.  In Illinois up to 30 grams of cannabis is considered a misdemeanor.  If passed this bill would still allow officers to arrest those in possession of any amount of cannabis but it would be up to the officers discretion to issue the citation.
